Western High School in Las Vegas (map) is hosting this year’s annual regional K-12 science conference sponsored by the Southern Nevada Science Teacher Association (SNSTA), Southern Nevada Regional Professional Development Program (SNRPDP), and Clark County School District – Instructional Design and Professional Learning Division (IDPL).
This year’s conference theme, Science for the Next Generation, offers over 40 workshop-style sessions where participants experience content, instructional strategies, and resources which support the newly revised Nevada Academic Content Standards for Science (NVACSS), based upon the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Five (5) conference strands materialized to offer participants a themed experience:
Holographic Teaching–Using a 3D Model for Teaching Science
Alien Communication–Scientific Literacy
Keeping the Red Shirts Alive– Project Based Learning
Warp Speed Ahead–Closing the Achievement Gap
Federation of Planets–Community Partnerships

Conference Registration is open through the day of the event online at www.snsta.eventbrite.com and includes:
- 2016-2017 Membership to the Nevada State Science Teachers Association (NSSTA)
- 2016-2017 Membership to the Southern Nevada Science Teachers Association (SNSTA)
- Continental Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks
- Ticket for raffle prizes
CCSD teachers have the option to receive ½ Credit PDE for attending and participating in the conference.
